Lynn M. Dunston, CFP® | Founder & Senior Wealth Planner
With more than 18 years of experience in the investment and financial planning industry, Lynn is passionate about helping families, professionals, and business owners accomplish their financial objectives. With more than a decade of experience in academia and, as a graduate of Harvard University, Lynn brings a rigorous, research-driven approach to the field of financial planning and investment management.
Prior to founding Dunston Financial Group, Lynn was a partner with Madison Financial Partners, where he specialized in providing private wealth management and financial planning services to successful family owned businesses and executives. Lynn also spent five years as director for a $300 million retirement trust fund in Louisville, KY. With a diverse background in investments, Lynn has significant expertise in helping clients with real estate and other non-traditional investment strategies. As an Enrolled Agent candidate, Lynn also enjoys helping clients with tax planning and the complexities of retirement withdrawal planning.
Outside of work, Lynn enjoys spending time with his three-year-old daughter and his wife, Natalie. Lynn also loves the outdoors, and he enjoys ultra-marathon trail running, mountain biking, and road cycling. Giving back to the community is also important. Lynn has served as a board member for the non-profit, Smart Girl, Inc., an organization committed to helping young girls make smart choices. Lynn also regularly serves underprivileged youth by taking them on mountain bike rides for the non-profit organization Trips for Kids Denver/Boulder.
Erin L. Hadary, MBA, CFP® | Partner & Senior Wealth Planner
Erin Hadary is a seasoned business professional with over 15 years of experience in comprehensive wealth management and finance. She has expertise in raising capital, leading investor relations, managing both individual and institutional investment portfolios and philanthropic advising. Erin enjoys helping clients make sound financial decisions and is committed to the client’s best interest and helping clients find purpose and clarity in their financial lives.
Erin is a Certified Financial Planner™, and currently a candidate for the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® designation. Erin is a member of the Financial Planning Association, and Colorado Planned Giving Round Table.
Prior to becoming a Certified Financial Planner™, Erin served as Director of Foundations and Corporate Relations for Emory & Henry College. Previously, she worked as the Director of Investor Relations for SoFi, in San Francisco overseeing private placements. She also spent 5 years in private wealth management as a Registered Investment Advisor for Raymond James Financial Services working with individual clients and private family foundations.
Stoyan Panayotov, MBA, CFA | Chief Investment Officer
Native to Bulgaria, Stoyan Panayotov is a seasoned investment officer. As a child, he was raised with strong family values and big dreams. In 2002, Stoyan came to the United States to study in New York, where he earned his MBA. In 2004, Stoyan completed his Master’s Degree in Finance, graduating at the top of his class and, in 2006, he earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. The CFA charter is an investment credential that, for more than 60 years, has been the global standard for embodying the integrity, dedication, and advanced skills needed to build a stronger, more accountable financial industry. No credential is as widely respected for its focus on current investment expertise and performing in the client’s best interest.
Prior to joining Dunston Financial Group as Chief Investment Officer, Stoyan worked in fixed income & municipal bonds trading at Deutsche Bank, equity and equity derivatives trading with Wells Fargo, and investment banking finance with Credit Suisse. Stoyan has spent more than a decade on wall street, where he learned the ropes of the financial industry and investing. Stoyan has extensive experience in risk management, equity, and fixed income markets.
Stephanie McElheny, CFP®, ChSNC®, EA | Director of Financial Planning
A Certified Financial Planner™ professional with more than seven years of industry experience, Stephanie is passionate about identifying opportunities and implementing comprehensive financial planning solutions for both individuals and businesses. As a Chartered Special Needs Consultant™ and an Enrolled Agent, Stephanie’s specific expertise includes special needs planning as well as individual and business taxation.
Prior to joining Dunston Financial Group, Stephanie was the Manager of Financial Planning, and an Assistant Vice President, at PNC Investments. She led a team of 13 professionals who provided financial planning services and solutions to more than 750 advisors across the country. Previously, Stephanie acted as both the Assistant Director of Financial Planning and a Registered Investment Advisor for Hefren-Tillotson, a mid-size wealth management firm. During her tenure with Hefren, Stephanie was responsible for reviewing and auditing financial plans for accuracy and completeness as well as acting as a lead content creator for the blog, newsletter, and radio spots.
A Pittsburgh native, Stephanie served as President and Symposium Chair of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), among other roles. She also spent time on the pro-bono committee, offering financial literacy education to seniors, veterans, and underprivileged families.
Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve, and their dog, Myron. She is an outdoor enthusiast who loves hiking, camping, cycling, and snowboarding. Stephanie also takes great pride in cheering on her hometown sports teams and alma mater – the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Ryan Bowman, CFP® | Associate Wealth Planner
With more than five years of experience helping individuals, families, and business owners with their unique financial planning needs, Ryan thrives on creating customized financial plans that help clients meet their financial objectives. Ryan strives to develop strong, trusting relationships with every client he serves, and he views every relationship as an opportunity to serve.
In addition to being a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, Ryan is a graduate of the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and holds a BSBA in Finance. During college, Ryan worked as a research/planning intern at a small registered investment advisory firm, and he developed a passion for personal financial planning. Ryan later went on to become a key team member for an investment advisory firm that managed more than $16 billion in client assets.
Prior to college, Ryan served four years in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman. Serving two deployments in Iraq, Ryan earned the Combat Infantryman Badge. Because of his service in the U.S. military, Ryan is passionate about working with military and veteran families.
Ryan loves spending time with his wife, Stephanie, and their pets: Blue (dog) and Buttons (cat). Ryan also likes the outdoors, and especially enjoys skiing, hiking, and cycling. He is an avid St. Louis Blues fan and, like all native St. Louisans, he enjoys Cardinal’s baseball. Ryan is also a free agent football fan (former St. Louis Rams’ fan) and is excited to now live in Broncos Country.
Rosanna Sabian | Administrative Assistant
Rosanna brings 10 years of business administration experience to the Dunston Financial Group team. Prior to her move to Denver she was an office manager at a CPA office for the past 7 years. Her love for client relations and servicing makes her perfect for her role. Rosanna strives to provide clients with the highest level of customer service and to form lifelong client bonds. Since joining Dunston Financial Group her goals are to help grow the business and assist her team in accomplishing tasks and projects.
As a recent new resident of Denver, Rosanna loves to spend time with her husband, Kosal, and exploring their new hometown. Rosanna is also a major foodie, and she’s excited that she has a plethora of new places to try. She is also looking forward to experiencing all the seasons, including living in a state with snow, and doing a lot of outdoor activities.
Jetson | Chief of Staff
Jetson joined our team in March 2017 to handle day-to-day management of team morale. He routinely contributes to the company’s success by listening attentively to his team members and creating win-win solutions to keep his whole pack on task. Prior to joining Dunston Financial Group, Jetson was at the Colorado Retriever Rescue, overseeing a pack of hound dogs from various backgrounds seeking a forever home. He is missing his left ear after being bullied by an older dog when he was just a puppy and believes all people need a little comfort when dealing with difficult circumstances. When he is not at the office, Jetson enjoys practicing yoga, swimming and hiking in the mountains.
